Lenovo K80M – Budget Smartphone with 4 GB RAM

Lenovo K80M – Budget Smartphone with 4 GB RAM

A great budget Smartphone that offers 4 GB RAM, Mid-tier performance and probably the best Price to Performance Ratio.

A Zenfone 2 copycat?

The Lenovo K80M, is a budget Smartphone that uncharacteristically challenges the Asus Zenfone 2, at first glance, the phone offers pretty much the same features and hardware but is priced way lower making it a great deal. The phone carries an Intel Atom Moorefield Quad Core Z3560 Quad Core processor with a PowerVRG6430 Graphics.
There are two variants of the K80M but only minor differences separate these devices:
  1. Lenovo K80M – 4 GB version with Intel Atom Z3560 Moorefield Processor
  2. Lenovo K80M (P90) – a cheaper version but only comes with 2 GB RAM
Setting aside similarities to the Zenfone 2, the K80M is actually a pretty decent Budget Phone, it is midranger and offers performance close to other midrangers in the market now. Designwise, the phone looks like the Vibe Flagship lineup, but does have a plastic build on it.

13 MP OIS camera and 1080p FHD display

Some notable features is the 13 MP shooter with an OIS (Optical Image Stabilization camera), Lenovo also added a wide angle f/2.2 Aperture lens which gives it an edge on low light shots. In terms of display, the phone also comes with a 5.5 inch Phablet size display with a 1080p FHD resolution. Color reproductions are decent with very good viewing angles.

4000mAh battery and Unibody Construction

The phone still manages to stay relatively slim at 8.4 mm despite a rather massive 4000mAh battery on its midst. Speaking of battery, it’s certainly one of its best feature, the 4000mAh offers great usage time with batteries lasting more than a day or two on a single charge, but still this value is very dependent on user preference. The body of the phone is mostly plastic, but the frame is Unibody, the phone feels sturdy and solidly built, so no problem there.

Expandable Storage, Vibe UI and NFC

Unfortunately, it lacks MicroSD support, but it does come with 64 GB eMMC storage right out of the box, which probably enough for most users. There is also NFC built in (K80M). In terms of interface, the phone comes with Lenovo’s proprietary Vibe UI and based on Android 4.4 KitKat at stock, a bit dated but upgrading to 5.1 is possible.

Let’s forget competition, it’s still a great budget phone

You can’t go wrong with the Lenovo K80M, it is still good enough to run most apps and with decent specs, it will rival other Mid-tier phones in the market. I think comparing it to the Zenfone 2 would not be appropriate, it is a league on itself and is a great device especially for budget conscious consumers.
