LETV Leeco LE1 PRO X800 – Hidden Gem of 2016
LETV Leeco LE1 PRO X800 – Hidden Gem of 2016
You might not be aware of this Smartphone, but the LETV Leeco Le1 Pro is one of the best Flagship of 2015, perfectly combines Premium build quality, Performance and 2K Display.

LETV LeEco LE1 PRO X800 retails at $189 |
2015 has released a lot of Phones and non so special than the LeTV Leeco LE1 Pro X800. A Flagship of 2015, the Smartphone offers premium build, Quad HD Display, 4K video and Top Tier Performance. Today, the phone is selling just shy of $189. A great value especially for the price and value.
Top Tier Build Quality
Worthy of the Flagship name, the LeTV Leeco LE1 Pro X800 is clearly well built and overall the ergonomics and design complements. Not to mention, the great presentation and packaging, LeTV has made strides on making it look like Apple. Certainly, there is similarities in terms off the design and especially their packaging.
The Loudspeakers are all on the bottom of the phone, which can unfortunately be muffled easily. The Navigation buttons have LED Backlits and also comes Notification lights at the top corner. The whole shell cover is curved and nicely complements and improves grip.
Great Performance
The LeTV LeeCo Le1 Pro X800 is no slouch, equipped with Snapdragon 810 (version 2.1) and Adreno 430 Graphics Chipset, RAW performance is overall silky smooth and is still able run the latest and 3D intensive titles in the market. The handset is also equipped with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB Storage out of the box but unfortunately doesn’t come with MicroSD Support.
Overheating issues?
The phone does get warm but never to a point where you feel uncomfortable holding it. On gaming, the phone gets warm easily and can be easily felt at the rear (aluminum)cover of the phone. It is also known, that Snapdragon has a reputation for Overheating, so this is a welcome news that the handset handles this well
LeUI 5.0 (based on Android 5.0 Lollipop)
The handset comes with LeUI 5.0, a skinned version of Android 5.0 Lollipop and adds specific improvements and customization. Most of the changes surround around the notification window, a love or hate relationship. Some may love the changes, or some may become irate by it. In terms of Bloatwares, there are some preinstalled by are not resource hungry that can affect performance. Although you need to pay note that some are installed with Chinese ROMS, meaning there is no Playstore Preinstalled.
Excellent Quad HD or 2K Screen
The Quad HD Display is one of the best in the business, roughly 538 ppi, the image quality quality is also excellent, color reproduction is great with no tinting of colors and even on extreme angles, the IPS Screen maintains good visible angle. Touch screen sensitivity is also adequate, no hypersensitivity or delay.
More on the display, you can easily tweak it to the contrast and color saturation that you want, these are settings that are available for you right out of the bat.
Does 2K equates to poor battery life?
A big question is, how is the battery life especially with Quad HD displays? The 3000mAh battery is decent but not that great, the Quad HD definitely eats power and I can attest to it. But on more frugal use, you can get through the day without any issues. On battery run time test, I was able to get around 5 hours Plus, which is not really great but just average.
Great Still Camera but average 4K videos
The Camera of the Leeco Le1 Pro certainly deserves a praise, it is one of the best in the business, at least talking into account the price. It is equipped with a 13 mp Sony IMX214 sensor, which has been characterized as a Mainstream sensor for Camera Phones. On good lighting, the quality of the images are great, the details are accurate and the color production are natural without over-saturation. However, on low light shots without Flash, noise is apparent but still decent. The added Dual Tone Flash is strong and certainly helps improve the quality of night time shots.
In terms of Video, this is the area where quality seems to dip, even though it is listed to have 4K video recording available. The Quality is choppy and not really comparable with other 4K Camera Phones in the market. The standard 1080p video is available but still the quality doesn’t really equate, the lack of continuous autofocus also hurts the video quality. However, the built-in Anti-Shake or OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) helps improve the jitters and thus video quality is just decent, not really spectacular.
Full Featured Connectivity
The Leeco Le1 Pro X800 supports 4G LTE, but in terms of compatibility of most carrier, that is a big question mark. On my region, frequencies work fine, however, i can’t attest if it will work on other regions especially on Western regions. Other connectivity options include the standard WiFi, Bluetooth and USB Type C support.
Call quality, Reception and GPS
I did not have any issues when it comes to reception, but this may differ from carrier to carrier, so I can’t attest if it will be as good on other areas. The Call Quality is fairly decent, volume is audible and sounds natural. The GPS is also accurate and can get signal lock easily.
Battery Life (mixed views)
This area is really situational, I don’t really use the phone for gaming as much and prefer to use it via WiFi, social media and Youtube. The phone does get warm after a while but still the battery still manage to satisfy my needs. But I do need to charge it once a day. My profile as a user is different, so I don’t classify myself as a heavy user, so the battery values might not be accurate for me to discern.
Hidden Gem of 2016
It’s now 2016 and prices have gone down dramatically, at just $189 (current pricing), the LeTV LeeCo Le1 Pro X800 is now within the pricing of some midrange Smartphones in the market. A great contender, which I think the Le1 Pro still has what it takes to win. The Snapdragon 810 still offers above Mid-tier Performance and the Great Quad HD Display certainly is a welcome feature. The phone also offers Great Multitasking performance, clean UI, decent audio and overall great Still camera. What makes the Le1 Pro most interesting now, is perhaps the pricing. It offers the best value for price.
